This should answer all your questions about Brodies Hostels but if by any chance your questions isn't covered here then just drop us a line through our contact form and a member of staff will happily help you out.

Q. Is bedlinen supplied?

A. Yes. All bedlinen is supplied by us cleaned and washed before you arrive, and we make your bed for you, so no having to make it yourself on arrival! Towels are available for a small charge.

Q. Is breakfast included?

A. No, but there are shops all around and we have a fully-fitted self-catering kitchen so you can make you own food as suits your own taste, your own budget and what time you get up!

Q. How far is it to the city centre?

A. We are located superbly on the Royal Mile which is right in the city centre.

Q. Do you have lockers for my stuff?

A. Yes. We have lockers for hire that can take your valuables - money belts, mobile phones, camera bags, laptops etc.

Q. How good is your security?

A. Excellent! We have constant CCTV monitoring of entrances and common areas, as well as sophisticated electronic access control systems. All guests must provide a Govt approved type of photo ID at check in, such as a passport, driving licence or identity card from your home country. Failure to provide suitable ID might result in your reservation being cancelled and although you will not be allowed to stay, you will be charged for the first nights accommodation for each person in your reservation.

Q. How safe is Edinburgh as a city?

A. All travelling carries with it a certain amount of risk, Edinburgh however is still one of the safest places you can go.

Q. How do I get around the city?

A. There is no tube or metro system in Edinburgh, but instead a very efficient bus system. That said however the city is small & compact, and most visitors never need step on a bus - everything is within easy walking distance - especially as both Brodies hostels are so centrally located.

Q. Do you accept Stag/Hen parties?

A. Unfortunately not. Some celebratory groups dont respect others in the hostel, and for this reason we do not accept them.

Q. What time do the pubs shut?

A. How long is a piece of string? Scotland has different licensing laws to England. Most will shut at midnight or 1am, but a few regularly stay open until 3am or later. Clubs will usually stay open until 3am but some pubs and clubs may have extended licenses for certain busy periods such as Hogmanay, the Festival, or major sporting events such as the Six Nations Rugby Internationals.

Q. How late can I come back to the hostel?

A. We have a sophisticated electronic access system so you can come and go as you please 24 hours a day. We only ask that when you come back late at night you respect our neighbours & fellow guests and keep the noise down, and also that under no circumstances do you let anyone else into the building.

Q. What time can you check in/What time is check out and what do I need?

A. Check in can be done anytime between midday and midnight, (our reception is open until no later than 1am each day) occasionally it may be possible to let you have access to your room earlier than midday, but we can't guarantee this! Our check out time is 10.30am each day. We require to see a government issued photographic ID at check in from each person who will be staying in the hostel, failure to provide this may result in you not being allowed to stay
